The WINDHAVEN YOUTH GROUP

The purpose of the teen youth group is to learn about Jesus Christ and have fun doing it!
Past activities include attending the annual Youth for Christ conference in Ocean City, MD; camping, traversing the Corn Maze, sponsoring the Windhaven Harvest Party, trip to Six Flags and King's Dominion, bowling, swimming parties, and service projects.
Sunday School classes for Middle and High School students are taught by Kristin Lute.
CHILDREN'S CHURCH

Children's Church is for children ages 4 through 4th grade. It is sub-divided into two groups: Age 4 - Kindergarten and 1st - 3rd Grades. After Praise & Worship, the children are released for the duration of the Sunday morning worship service. Our Children's Church teams present Bible stories, songs, skits, and crafts to make the session lively and exciting. Often, the children perform the songs that they learned.
Each group of students is led by knowledgeable and caring teachers who take them through a Bible lesson, using games, works puzzles, fills in a coloring page, and creates a craft. The children enjoy the Children's Church because they have an opportunity to be with their friends, eat snacks, play games, sing songs, and learn about God's Word in fun and innovative ways.
Due to the excellent work of our coordinators, volunteers are already assigned for both Children's Church groups! All of our wonderful volunteers have had a background check.
NURSERIES

We have TWO Nurseries. There is a nursery for Infants and one for Toddlers (ages 2-4 years). Each nursery is clean and maintained by a coordinator and a team of volunteers. All toys are periodically disinfected and upgraded. All the doors at Windhaven have windows for quick inspection. All children are given identification tags.
* Windhaven Church works at maintaining a safe environment for all children.
We have implemented a Physical and Sexual Abuse Prevention Policy that includes: a required background check on each volunteer and staff person, a glass window in all doors, a large window in the Toddlers Nursery, a hall monitor, volunteer training, identification tags, a visual pager, emergency medical data for each child, and a "two-person" rule for each class and activity.
Only individuals who have attended Windhaven for six months are allowed to work with children. Although this policy seems rather dramatic, our parents know that we are serious in our commitment to each child's safety.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Each year we have a week long classes for children ages pre-school through 11 years. There are crafts, games, music, snacks, and Bible stories. Usually, V.B.S. begins on Sunday night and ends on Thursday night.
On Sunday night we have the WINDHAVEN FAMILY FUN CARNIVAL held at Windhaven Church, which features a moon-bounce, sno-cones, cotton candy, popcorn, hot dogs, fruit drinks, face painting, games and prizes - all free. We are grateful for the 60 volunteers that make the V.B.S and Carnival a success. Several hundred people attend each year.
Our next Vacation Bible School is scheduled for JULY 2008. Our Windhaven Family Fun Carnival is held the first day of VBS.
